Paintball, the perfect stag activity?
We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 strategies to ensure you and your team get the win when playing Paintball.

1. Communication and teamwork
Communicate with your teammates. Communication with your teammates is vital, especially when executing offensive manoeuvres and you will have more success as a team than as an individual. Paintball is a collaborative effort requiring participation from all members of the team in order to secure victory, so it’s important all players know their role.
By assigning roles and remaining with your team members rather than going off on a lone mission, you will extend your time on the playing field. You will only end up being an easier target for the opposition if you go off alone. If you position your teammates strategically in key places, you stand a better chance of preventing the enemy team from completing their objective, and you’ll end up securing victory! So always remember — work together with your teammates.

2. Keep moving (and move smart)
Always keep moving. By remaining in the same spot or standing still for too long, you will flag up your position to the opposition, and they will soon be heading your way. It’s important to keep moving through the game zones so you can help your team when you come under attack. If you remain too far behind the action, you won’t be of any use to your team as you will likely be out of range to eliminate the enemy.
Remember when relocating to a new position that you move quickly and quietly — this way you remain unnoticed for as long as possible. In the heat of the battle it’s always best to remain calm and blend in with the surroundings. Use stealth and cunning to move your team into key vantage points. Using diversionary tactics to confuse the enemy is usually the best strategy rather than panicking and rushing in with no set plan of attack.
3. Be aware of your surroundings
Stay aware of your surroundings. Be careful not to focus all your attention on one part of the game zone, or one single opponent;enemy fire comes from all directions so you need to stay alert. Tunnel vision will ultimately lead to your demise. It helps to create a mental map of the game zone and look for key hiding spots where you envisage the enemy to set up. This also allows you to take note of areas where you and your team can retreat to if the situation arises. By staying one step ahead of the enemy you give yourself the winning edge over your opposition.

4. Use the element of surprise
Make use of the element of surprise. By creating confusion on the game zone, you increase the chance of eliminating the enemy. Try emerging from behind one section of cover and take aim at the opposition, then duck down out of sight and move to a new position. Your opponent will be concentrating on where you had previously been firing so you will have an opportunity to catch them off guard from your new position.
5. Remain positive and have fun!
Remember — paintballing is fun! Playing paintball with your mates is meant to be a laugh, so it’s important you remain confident and upbeat throughout the day. A positive outlook will raise team morale and will encourage your teammates to follow your tactical strategy. By letting negative thoughts creep in, your gameplay will slip and you’re more likely to end up being an obvious target. This won’t help you or your team win the game.
